The OmniSnake consists of a Stage Box that converts microphone/line-level analog inputs to a multiplexed digital signal, and a companion Base Unit that de-multiplexes to provide individual outputs. Digitizing the analog audio at the source eliminates the potential for ground loops, noise interference and crosstalk. Each Stage Box has 8 inputs, and two Stage Boxes can be linked together via coax to form a combined 16 channels, which is carried over coaxial cable to the Base Unit.

Multiplexer Module
This Data Communications Multiplexer is designed specifically for multiplexing or de-multiplexing up to 32 differential signal pairs having controlled 100 differential impedance. The multiplexer can be configured under software control to provide switching for 32 differential pairs, 16 dual differential pairs and 8 quad differential pairs. The dual and quad versions are particular well suited for providing switching of AFDX, BroadR-Reach and Ethernet signals. To support Ethernet applications, the design includes a switching network that simplifies the swapping of Tx and Rx pairs to simulate the effect of Ethernet crossover cables.

Multiplexer Module
The 40-739-006 (PXI) and 42-739-006 (PXIe) are dual 4-channel 2-pole multiplexers designed specifically for physical layer multiplexing or demultiplexing differential signals that conform to the MIL-STD-1553 specification. The module can be supplied as a single or dual 16-channel 2-pole multiplexer with each signal pair having a controlled 78 Ohm differential impedance.
