Test Database Software Module

The relational test database is the pivotal point of the software structure. On one hand, this is where the test applications and test systems used for productive testing are stored; on the other hand, it provides the storage space for all DUT-related test data. Depending on customer requirements, the test database may either be hosted locally on the test system or centrally on a server, supporting several test systems. The database performance is sufficient for a high-volume production environment with many test systems which access the central database in parallel. LXinstruments prefers to implement the database as a license-free MySQL database; it is however also possible to realize a version based on Microsoft SQL.

To diagnose and analyze electronic components and devices, various tests are required in development, production and service. Equipped with all the necessary standard functions, the test sequencer developed by LXinstuments meets all criteria for a successful and smooth test process. The test item ( DUT ) is examined under various operating conditions for its properties, function and usability. Typical areas of application can be found where the usual complexity of test sequences has to be processed. The test sequencer is therefore suitable for small and medium-sized systems where special functions of other sequencers are not required. The free, cross-platform, open source developer platform .NET serves as a starting point. The integrated WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation) framework ensures a user-friendly program interface.

With cars it is easy: Change of oil, check of breaks and V-belt .. etc. - that is normal. But your test system does not need all these things. However it makes sense to look after your test system occasionally and check or change special idems. If you take the time and plan a preventive maintenance your test system will have less unplanned failure times. Less dust means less heat and slower ageing of electronic components.

SCOEs and EGSEs by LXinstruments are used during test and validation of satellite assemblies and modules in aerospace applications. As an example, we implemented solar array simulators, battery simulators and high-power load racks for a German satellite manufacturer for testing satellite power supply systems. Due to the high power ratings, the systems are partially equipped with water cooling. Specialized switching modules were developed for switching DC currents at high voltage levels; these can be programmed with SCPI commands via Ethernet.Our modular OTP² functional test platform is ideally suited for implementing durable, reliable test systems, e. g. for in-flight entertainment applications. Since the OTP2 platform is based on open interfaces, it can be quickly and easily adapted to any required communication busses and ARINC interfaces.

Electronic Loads/Sinks

An electronic load offers the possibility of testing the specimen under different loads. Various load changes are simulated, as they can occur in normal operation. For this purpose, the relevant load current is set in a defined range and electronically controlled. For the test, different operating states are either programmed or entered into the system via an interface (USB, RS-232, GPIB...). For easy handling and quick use, there are four operating modes.

In the past, LXinstruments has already implemented a number of application-specific system solutions which cater for these special requirements. These solutions are often used to replace systems which have been in production for many decades. Our systems are not only employed for testing signal box technology modules, but also for testing train control system which are installed in the track bed. Due to the strong magnetic fields which occur at the DUT in combination with high voltages, the test systems require specific technical safeguards.
