Wafer bonding has found many applications in the field of MST, MEMS and micro engineering. These include the fabrication of pressure sensors, accelerometers, micro-pumps and other fluid handling devices. The process is also used for first-order packaging of silicon microstructures to isolate package-induced stresses. The OAI AML Wafer Bonder facilitates both the alignment and bonding to be performed in-situ, in a high vacuum chamber. For anodic bonding the wafers are loaded cold and heated in the process chamber. For high accuracy alignment the wafers are aligned and brought into contact only after the process temperature has been reached, thus avoiding differential thermal expansion effects which can compromise alignment. The AML Wafer Bonder is excellent for anodic bonding, silicon direct and thermal compression bonding applications. These features enable the bonder to be used with virtually any processing tool.

New IEC standards, IEC 60034-18-41 and IEC 60034-18-42, have been issued to define the procedures for testing partial discharge inception voltage and the long-term performance (endurance) of Type I and Type II insulation systems used in rotating machines fed from voltage converters. Voltage impulse generators are required at least to test turn insulation, but they would be recommended for any testing under power electronics supply because of their capability to simulate the real electrical stress conditions. More generally, any type of electrical insulation system when subject to impulsive voltage waveform during life should be carefully evaluated in terms of partial discharge and endurance behaviour. This is why voltage impulse generators able to provide impulses with controlled amplitude and frequency are needed to face this new testing challenge.

This test determines the effects of direct solar radiation on components and material. The heating effects of solar radiation differ from those of high air temperature in that the amount of heat absorbed depends on the roughness and color of the surface on which the radiation is incident and the angle of incidence to the sun. The MINI-MAX, Ultrasonic Bolt Tension Monitor, defines the state of the art in the measurement of the actual elongation produced by tightening a threaded fastener. The MINI-MAX can measure the elongation very accurately in fasteners of virtually any material from 1/2 inch to 4 feet in length. The measurement is achieved by determining the change in the transit time, of an ultrasonic shock wave along the length of the fastener as the fastener is tightened by any method. The on-board microcomputer automatically interprets this time measurement to display the time(nanoseconds), elongation, load, stress, or %strain from stretching a fastener. Through the use of high speed digital signal processing and automated diagnostics, the MINI-MAX minimizes the requirement for extensive operator training. Designed to be used with the Model HVST High Voltage Surge tester. The Surge Current Monitor allows simultaneously surge testing 20 units. The Surge Current Monitor monitors the current going through each unit under test at the time of the surge. If a unit under test breaks down or leaks, the Surge Current Monitor will identify the bad unit by lighting the corresponding LED. The most important features of the surge tester are its ability to test the entire winding insulation system. A high voltage surge generates turn to turn, coil to coil, and phase to phase voltage stress, as well as ground insulation stress. When used as a dielectric test, accurate voltage readings are essential. The HV Surge Tester monitors the voltage directly across the winding under test. In production testing we expect that most of the time the devices will pass. In the event that one should fail, the failed device would be removed and then all the parts would have ot undergo another surge test. Since most devices pass most of the time, simultaneous surge testing can be a real time saver.
